EJAF has been honored by the Caribbean Treatment Action Group with the organization’s Outstanding Donor Award. This award was presented to the Foundation at the 2011 Caribbean HIV Conference held November 18-21, 2011, at the Atlantis Conference Center in Nassau, The Bahamas. Allyson Leacock, Executive Director of the Caribbean Broadcast Media Partnership on HIV/AIDS, a five-year recipient of EJAF grant funding, accepted the award on the Foundation’s behalf.
The Caribbean is the second-most HIV/AIDS affected region in the world after sub-Saharan Africa, containing nine of the 12 countries with the highest HIV prevalence in the Americas. There is a tremendous need for HIV prevention, treatment, and services in the Caribbean, and EJAF is one of the leading funders of such efforts in the region.
